PRIVACY STATEMENT

Thank you for visiting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (Service) Online Permits web site and reviewing our privacy statement. The Service collects information to establish and verify an applicant’s eligibility for a permit to conduct certain activities with wildlife and plants under various laws . Information includes name, address, date of birth, occupation, home and work phone numbers, facsimile number, e-mail address, Tax Identification Number (if business) and qualifications of the applicant, if applicable. Failure to provide all requested information may be sufficient cause for the Service to deny the request for a permit. See the Department of Interior’s public notice of theOnline Permit existing system of records   – Permits System – Interior, FWS—21 for a description of the system, including purposes and routine uses of the records. All information collections have valid Office of Management and Budget (OMB) control numbers displayed on the upper right-hand corner of the printed application form. An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless the OMB number is displayed.

SECURITY

This web site is protected by U.S.FWS Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The SSL indicates that you are on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Online Permits web site and have not been re-directed to an illegal site. As a result, your sensitive and non-sensitive data are encrypted over the Internet, preventing information from being read by others on the Internet while it is being transmitted between your web browser and the Online Permits web site. In addition, the Online Permits web site has access controls. You must enter a unique login ID and password to successfully register and use the Online Permits web site. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this web site are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. Information may also be used for authorized law enforcement investigations.

Cookies

When you visit some Web sites, their web servers generate pieces of information known as cookies. Some cookies collect personal information to recognize your computer in the future. This is not the case at E-Permits.fws.gov, where we only use non-persistent cookies or "per-session cookies." These cookies do not collect personal information on users and they are erased as soon as you leave our Web site. Per-session cookies serve technical purposes like providing seamless navigation through E-Permits.fws.gov. These cookies do not permanently record data and they are not stored on your computer's hard drive. E-Permits.fws.gov cookies are stored in memory and are only available during an active browser session. Again, once you close your browser, the cookie disappears.

ONLINE PAYMENT

This site accepts payment of permit processing fees with an approved credit card through the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Pay.gov web site . Pay.gov enables individuals and businesses to securely and easily send electronic payments to the Federal Government. When you select to pay the fee online, you exit the Online Permits web site and enter the Pay.gov site. The Online Permits database does not collect your credit card number.
